What is the Cow Chip 5K?
A 5K walk is 3.1 miles. The Cow Chip Run/Walk is an event organized by the Sauk Prairie Community Club, a non-profit service organization. Funds raised from the event go back into the community for many local charities and youth activities.
Why do we want you to walk with us?
We love to see our patients who have had a joint replacement enjoy being active again! And our patients benefit from meeting others who have had the surgery too.
How does this work?
We’ve limited this opportunity to those who have had hip or knee replacement at Sauk Prairie Healthcare before March 1, 2023. If that’s you AND you feel you’re physically capable of walking this distance AND want to join us, you must complete all the following steps:
Click on the orange “Count Me In” button on this website and complete the RSVP information before July 31, 2023. This RSVP is how Sauk Prairie Healthcare knows you’re planning to walk with our group and your t-shirt size (we give you a special free t-shirt to wear for the walk as part of our group).
Register and pay for the walk. The cost is $25 until July 31 (increases after July 31). To register and pay, go to: CLOSED
Meet up with our group before the walk, Saturday, September 2. If you are among the first 100 hip or knee replacement patients to RSVP to us, you’ll be given a $25 Sauk Prairie Chamber of Commerce gift certificate, redeemable at more than 70 local businesses. The gift certificate is courtesy of the Sauk Prairie Healthcare Foundation. Must be present in person before the race to receive the gift certificate.
Before the walk begins, we’ll socialize, take a group picture, and get a pep talk from one of our orthopedic surgeons. Then we’ll head to the starting line and wait for the cow bell to signal the start of the walk!
We have created a free 8-week training course to help people prepare for the walk. The course is available online and includes a training schedule, warm up and cool down exercises, as well as helpful information and tips. To register for this training, click the button below.
